Work experience

Published by kirstenr under Random thoughts, eL Des

Its a shame I won’t be continuing this subject while I’m doing my work experience at QBE because I found out on Wednesday (at the meeting I had with a couple of the staff there who will be superivising me) that I can have access to a number of QBE’s e-Learning programs and see how well they fit with the e-Learning design principles we have discussed this semester…

Anyhow, bed is calling (more loudly this time)

Collection of general thoughts

Published by kirstenr under Random thoughts, eL Des

So I’ve written up as many blogs as I possibly could have in the past week or so without losing my sanity (okay, did I have it in the first place? haha) and my brain is at a point where it just hurts.

Maybe thats the lack of sleep though… I reckon I’ve had 10-12 hours sleep in the past 2 days, plus worked full 8 hour days… I’m exhausted! I NEED this break, except I’m not going to really get one because I have work experience starting next Wednesday, which is happening 3 days a week for the next 5 weeks. Inbetween all that I’ll be working at my paid job (so I can have some money :P ), so I could quite possibly be working 6 days a week (I can’t work Saturdays because I have netball).

I have enjoyed this subject, although I probably didn’t put as much effort into it for a number of reasons. Firstly, I overloaded myself and took 5 subjects this semester (and I’m also doing it next semester) so I can finish this year and graduate next Autumn. Secondly, I focused on my other subjects which had major assignments worth 60% or more over this one. Thirdly, I had to combine my uni timetable with work, netball, a social life and time to do my assignments. And finally, my procrastination habits HAVE NOT changed :(

I think its time for me to go to bed… I’m really looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow :)

Just a liiiiiiittle freaked out now……

Published by kirstenr under Random thoughts, eL Des

Okay so my post on self-publishing has just appeared here

First of all, its attributed to something called The Lit List, but second of all, it links to my site.

I’m a little:

a) freaked out

b) confused

c) unsure as to whether I should be worried about my intellectual copyright? (lol maybe thats taking it too far…)

Activity 1.2 (my goodness EyeToy Play is a workout!)

Published by kirstenr under Module 1, Random thoughts, eL Des

Activity 1.2 relates to web-based applications, which is something I am quite familiar with.

I quite regularly use chat (not necessarily chat forums but more so applications such as MSN Messenger), and am currently using a weblog!

I am subscribed to a number of podcasts (which have meant that my family reached their download limit last month in less than two weeks :S oops!).

I think that RSS and aggregators (such as Netvibes) are fantastic as it means I don’t have to go trawling hundreds of websites to find what I’m looking for. It’s especially good for me to find articles on football (aka soccer – I despise that term!) and netball, considering they’re often hidden in the depths of news websites

Social networking is a web-based application I am VERY familiar with, and it is often a source of procrastination and distraction! I’m a member of SO MANY social networking sites – Bebo, LiveJournal, Facebook, MySpace. I do mostly only use Facebook, and sometimes MySpace, but my Bebo and LiveJournal pages have been languishing in cyberspace for quite some time now without me looking at them

E-portfolios are a quite interesting concept, however my e-portfolio has been totally neglected since I completed the subject in first year :S I think I might be able to use it…

I’ve used wikis for this subject, and e-learning experiences, as well as putting it into use for another subject. We had a group assignment and thought that a wiki would come in handy for discussion as the only time we can meet is in class. As we have to do work outside of class in order to complete the assignment, I created a wiki page to share ideas and information rather than having a constant email thread going back and forth with heaps of attachments and “Fwd:”s
